This topic isnt meant to put people off, but I think for those people wanting to get started as a breeder or wanting to breed just once for the experience, it would help to learn what bad experiences people have had with breeding.

Many people think that its easy to breed and that all you need to do is put a male and a female together and thats it.

Yet some rats are sterile, some rats have genetic aggression or shyness that can be past on to the babies.

Some females have birthing difficulties and need a c-section by a vet to deliver stuck babies.

Some rats have genetic conditions like weak hearts, small or missing eye genes, internal bleeding problems, tumors and cancer.

Some rats dont make good mothers and will destroy babies for no reason, some mothers are unable to produce milk so babies starve to death.

All of this is what you will read about here....

Please be aware that some posts may upset you.
